FedEx Settings

FedEx Settings allow you to set specific settings related to FedEx.

FedEx Rate Type:
Set to “Retail FedEx Rates” to use the regular FedEx rates.
Set to “My Negotiated FedEx Rates” if you wish to use your company’s negotiated rates.

If you choose to use Negotiated FedEx rates, then you will also need to enter your FedEx Account Number.

Declare Value (Insurance): Set to “Declare Value” to enable FedEx insurance for the value of the order. This will tell FedEx the order value. Set to “Do Not Declare Value”, and eShipRate will not tell FedEx the value of your shipment, leaving it uninsured, or insured for a minimal value.

FedEx Pickup Type: In almost all cases, this should be set to “Scheduled Pickup”. Do not change this unless you are sure of this setting.

FedEx Packaging Type: In almost all cases, this should be set to “Your Packaging”. Do not change this unless you are sure of this setting.

Enable FedEx One Rate:
Checking this box will enable FedEx One Rate. Make sure that you fully understand this service prior to enabling.
FedEx One Rate offers flat shipping rates for express (air) packages provided that the items fit inside a FedEx One Rate branded box.
eShipRate will determine if the items in the order can fit into one or more of the FedEx One Rate boxes.
However, in order for this to work, you should make sure that dimensions are set for your items so that eShipRate can determine if the ordered items will fit. Items without set dimensions will be treated as 0 dimensions, and the system will assume that the item(s) will fit in the box. When the time comes to actually ship the order, you may find that the item(s) do not fit, and you will then need to pay a higher rate to ship the order than what you charged your customer. Make sure you understand this prior to enabling.
When enabling FedEx One Rate, you will be presented with a list of the FedEx One Rates boxes. Check the ones that you wish to use.
For more information on FedEx One Rate, see the FedEx website: https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/one-rate.html

Specify the split weights before splitting a shipment into multiple packages:
This section allows you to specify the weight (in pounds) at which eShipRate will split an order into multiple packages or start a new package.
Shipping carriers charge extra fees for heavy boxes. So for example, 4 boxes weighing 50 lbs each will usually cost less than 2 boxes weighing 100lbs each.
Also, if you have set box sizes, then the lower weight of the 2 (weight shown below vs max box weight) will be used. Also, you should specify the absolute maximum weight for each of the rates. If a single item is heavier than the split weight, then the split weight will be the weight of the item for that box.

FedEx currently charges their heavyweight surcharge on packages weighing over 50 lbs.
